4/27/1865: David Herold's Statement


David Herold was brought back to Washington from the Garrett farm where Booth had been killed, and put aboard the gunboat Montauk, which was lying at anchor off the Washington Navy Yard. He gave the following statement to the authorities on April 27, 1865, two weeks after the assassination.
